The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Romania Daulet Batrashev paid a working visit to the largest industrial and agricultural Timiș County, in the south-west of the country, on February 19-20, 2016.

A Conference on investment opportunities, benefits of doing business in Kazakhstan and further development of trade and economic cooperation between regions of the two countries was organized together with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of the Timiș County. Representatives of major companies and institutions working in the field of agriculture and forestry, engineering, consumer goods industry, including electrical, food and textile industries and tourism, attended the event.

The Kazakh diplomat informed the representatives of the local business community with Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities, preferences and incentives in the priority sectors of the economy as well as the main points of the President’s Address “Kazakhstan in the New Global Reality: Growth, Reform and Development”. Emphasizing the Romanian business interest in the development of mutual beneficial cooperation, he invited Romanian companies to participate in investment projects in Kazakhstan.

In the context of diversification of trade and economic cooperation, the Head of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Timiș County Florica Chirita has emphasized the prospects of expanding collaboration in the field of consumer goods and chemical industries. She has assured that the Chamber of the county will organize an economic mission to Kazakhstan this year with representatives of the county’s major companies.

During the visit, a tour of large enterprises and production sites of the county was held. Meetings with the representatives of the Research Institute for Renewable Energy at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara took place. The Ambassador has invited Romanian representatives to take an active participation with “Future Energy” innovative solutions and technologies at the forthcoming International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.

Following the visit, a number of Romanian companies expressed their readiness to expand their business in Kazakhstan. Particularly, the management of paints and coatings company “Azur” and the food processing company “Scandia” announced plans on launching production sites in Kazakhstan. The industrial company “Oilfest”, together with Kazakh partners, is also ready to establish the production of “cold asphalt” in Kazakhstan.

During the visit, meetings and discussions of the Ambassador of Kazakhstan with the Prefect of the Timiș County Mircea Băcală and the Chairman of the district council Titu Bojin were held. The parties emphasized the prospects of development and establishment of direct cooperation between the regions of Kazakhstan and Romania.
